Position Information

Castle Hill High School is a large, comprehensive secondary school. The school has 138 teaching staff and 1825 students, 62% of whom are from a non-English speaking background. The school has an outstanding reputation for its pursuit in building teacher capacity, its innovative programs to enhance academic performance and its culture founded on professional, collaborative, respectful relationships.

The curriculum is vast and extracurricular activities are abundant providing choice, challenge and interest for students. Creative and Performing Arts and Sport complement an academic focus where HSC results are very strong.

The school maintains and improves its academic performance through rigorous, challenging work for students. Selection Criteria Applicants must satisfy the teacher training and academic qualification requirements for this position. In addition to the general selection criteria,
* Proven ability to use data and assessment to identify priorities and lead improvement in teaching practice and student performance.
* Demonstrated expertise in 7-12 Mathematics curriculum and assessment, with the ability to guide the successful implementation of the syllabus through effective planning, programming, and evaluative practices and an ability to mentor staff in senior courses, particularly Extension Mathematics.
* Demonstrated ability to lead staff in the development, implementation and evaluation of high-quality teaching, learning and assessment practices, with a specific focus on Explicit Instruction to support effective implementation of the new syllabus, while aligning faculty practice with Department of Education priorities, including High Potential and Gifted Education (HPGE).
* Highly developed interpersonal and leadership skills, with the ability to motivate staff, support professional learning and work effectively with students, parents and the school

General Selection Criteria 1. Successful teaching experience with capacity to initiate improvement in teaching, learning and classroom practice 2. Knowledge of curriculum, assessment and student welfare with the ability to lead and design quality, inclusive teaching and learning programs 3. Educational leadership skills to build the capacity and manage the performance of individuals and teams 4. Well developed communication and interpersonal skills with the capacity to build relationships and engage students, staff and parents 5. Ability to plan and manage resources effectively and equitably to support teaching and learning 6. Knowledge of and commitment to the Department's Aboriginal education policy
