An exciting opportunity awaits for an experienced Medical Receptionist / Specialist Medical Secretary to join our dynamic team on the Sunshine Coast.
We are seeking a warm, professional, and motivated team member to support our surgeon in our Birtinya office.
Our practices provide modern facilities and a supportive, team-oriented environment where patient care and professionalism are the top priority.
About the Role
This is a client-facing role where you will be the first point of contact for patients. You will play a key part in ensuring the smooth running of reception and administration functions, supporting both patients and clinicians.
Duties & Responsibilities (include but are not limited to):
* Greeting and welcoming patients in a warm and professional manner
* Answering telephone calls and managing appointment bookings
* Processing payments and submitting Medicare claims.
* Scheduling and rescheduling patient appointments
* Scanning and maintaining accurate patient files and records
* Preparing consulting and waiting rooms for clinics
* Providing administrative support to our specialist
* Liaising with hospitals, theatres, and other healthcare providers as required
* Ensuring confidentiality and professionalism in all communications
About You
We are seeking candidates who are mature, responsible, reliable, well-presented, and thrive in a fast-paced environment.
* Previous experience in medical reception or specialist medical administration (minimum 2 years preferred)
* Tech-savvy with experience in Windows / Office 365
* Excellent verbal and written communication skills
* Ability to multi-task, prioritise, and remain calm under pressure
* Strong attention to detail and organisational skills
* Friendly, compassionate, and professional manner
* Ability to work independently and as part of a team
* Some flexibility with start and end on a few particular days.
* Flexibility to cover additional hours.
* Demonstrated some knowledge of medical terminology and healthcare industry practices
* Must have valid Australian work rights
Highly Regarded:
* Experience with medical practice management software (Genie/Gentu)
* Experience in a general surgeon specialty or similar, such as orthopaedics, ophthalmology, etc.
