About the Opportunity
We're seeking a Head of People & Culture – National Supply Chain and Field Sales to lead strategic people initiatives across our national supply chain and state operations, including major Distribution Centres and sales teams (a workforce of 2,700).
This is a new role, brought in to help fundamentally shift the people experience, capability and talent/workforce approach across the nation.
You won't be focused on operational matters; we've got a team of great HR peers to take care of that.
You'll slant towards future-focused, strategy improvements.
At Metcash, our frontline teams are our superheroes – giving customers and their communities service and support like no-one else.
In this role you'll report to the GM P&C – Food and lead a team of two business partners, whilst collaborating and relying on experts across the wider P&C team to deliver seamless people operations on your behalf (such as recruitment, advice, ER, payroll, etc.).
You'll partner closely with 6 General Managers, driving a people strategy closely linked to their business strategies and transformation agenda.

Be the thought leader on shifting the people experience of our teams closest to our customers – in our distribution centres and sales teams
Lead organisational design and cultural transformation initiatives across the nation
Drive change management and people-based transformation strategies for major growth initiativesBuild leadership capability across all levels, from distribution centre through to senior leaders
Coach, mentor, and guide Senior P&C Business Partners to drive impact and alignment
Strengthen future workforce planning, talent pipelines, succession depth, and retention for critical operational roles
Develop and implement strategic workforce plans across national operations and frontline populations
Collaborate across a matrix P&C structure to deliver group-aligned initiatives with local impact

10+ years of HR leadership experience in large, matrixed organisations similar to our size (and experience with supply chain)
Passion for unlocking talent, driving engagement, and building a values-led performance culture
Strong track record in workforce strategy, organisational development, and cultural transformation that makes a difference
Ability to navigate complexity and adapt to changing business contexts with confidence
Experience coaching and influencing senior leaders to elevate performance and accountability
