**About the role**:
Reporting the HR Manager (HRM), and working collaboratively with the Recruitment & HR Officer, the HR Advisor is responsible for providing accurate and timely HR advice, support and consultancy services to managers and employees across the full spectrum of the employee lifecycle.

This role has an operational generalist focus managing all aspects of HR, including policy interpretation and development, coaching and mentoring of front line leaders, performance management, learning and development, HR reporting and administration, remuneration and benefits, and cessation of employment.

**Key responsibilities**:

- Primary point of contact for Frontline people leaders, providing advice and support to line managers to address people management issues, and escalating to the HRM for attention as necessary.
- Provide a high level of customer service and HR consultancy advice to all staff on all aspects of human resources.
- Providing advice and support on a diverse range of HR queries and projects, across the breath of the employee life cycle, including but not limited to:

- HR policies and procedures;
- Interpretation of contracts and modern awards;
- Recruitment and selection;
- Learning and development;
- Performance management;
- Remuneration and benefits;
- Workplace Health & Safety; and
- Workplace diversity and inclusion.
- Support and contribute to the achievement of key operational objectives through the implementation of people plans, strategies and processes.
- Manages employee contract management matters, including contract renewal process, preparing documentation and coordinating approvals.
- Performs exit interviews and acts (where appropriate) on feedback.
- Helps resolve employee grievances, escalating more serious complaints to the HRM for support and guidance.
- In conjunction with the HRM, identify emerging issues and develop strategies in response to these issues.
- Develops workforce data and produces monthly, quarterly and annual HR reports, identifying trends and extracting meaningful insights to inform people initiatives / interventions.
- Prepares the monthly payroll advice for HRM approval, including some calculations relating to employment arrangements, working closely with payroll and finance.
- Assists with the resolution of payroll queries, in conjunction with payroll.
- Assists the Finance Dept. in the correct allocation and reconciliation of payroll costs as required.
- Proactive in monitoring employee morale, employees and their wellbeing, raising serious (or potentially) serious concerns early with the HRM.
- Acts as the Institute's return to work coordinator, providing practical support and guidance to employees and managers in relation to cases of Workcover and Return to Work (RTW), including Workcover claim submissions and documentation, RTW management and investigations (with support from HRM as required), ensuring all internal processes have been appropriately followed.
- Co-ordinates the reclassification process for both Research and Professional Staff.
- Supports the HRM to manage targeted learning and development and talent programs, supporting managers to identify learning and development needs for employees and teams.
- Undertake ad hoc project or policy work under the direction/support of the HRM.
- Provide day to day HR administrative support as appropriate.

**Responsibilities Shared Across the HR Team**:

- Acts as cover for other team members during periods of absence or leave. Supports the team to effectively manage workload.
- Adhere to all HR internal procedures ensuring a consistent and professional HR service delivery.
- Seek to continuously improve HR process and systems.
- Supports the development and implementation of new policies, practices and programs, providing input to the design, communicating and rolling them out as required.
- Assists to manage the HR Inbox, resolving allocated queries in a timely and accurate manner.
- Promotes & monitors the effectiveness of the Employee Assistance Program (EAP).
- Monitors IR, ER and HR practices, attending relevant briefings and workshops to ensure currency of information and advice.
