Lead the delivery of high-quality statutory and non-statutory planning services, ensuring legislative compliance and alignment with strategic objectives. Assess complex planning applications using a project management approach while driving efficient, timely outcomes. Build and maintain strong internal and external stakeholder relationships, provide expert advice on Planning Scheme and Council policies, and support strategic planning initiatives. Mentor junior planners, represent Council at VCAT and other forums, and champion continuous improvement across the department. What we’re looking for: Qualification in Urban Planning and Environment or similar 5-10 years experience working on public realm or local government projects Detailed understanding of town planning and subdivision legislation and regulations and Council strategies and policies. An ability to work collaboratively with experts of other professions and manage large project teams who may have competing interests An understanding of how planning decisions contribute to Council’s plan and values. Detailed understanding and proven experience dealing with growth area planning issues.
