Primary objective
Operating in a Shared Services, ensure the prompt and efficient delivery in applying entitlements for Aboriginal Cadets, Executive
Contracts, Salary Packaging and Workers Compensation to a large portfolio of client agencies with employees in a diverse range of
occupational streams covered by a variety of awards, industrial agreements and employment legislation.

Key duties and responsibilities
1. Undertake the processing, certifying and quality assurance tasks required to ensure the payment of salary, entitlements, workers

compensation benefits, salary packaging and the delivery of high-quality services to clients.
2. Provide regular on the job training to team members to ensure they have the skills and capabilities required to undertake their duties.
3. Build rapport and maintain good working relationships with client agency stakeholders (i.e. prospective employees, new and former

employees, NTPS employees and managers in client agencies.
4. Provide accurate, timely information to clients on conditions of service entitlements and more complex / difficult matters including

providing information about the related processes for accessing approved and legislated entitlements and / or preparing
correspondence relating to entitlements.

5. Independently organise and manage own workload, maintain subject matter expertise through ongoing development and learning
opportunities and actively contribute to a work environment that promotes high quality, customer focussed service delivery.

Selection criteria
Essential
1. Demonstrated ability to consistently apply operating procedures, awards, agreements, legislation and related conditions of

employment when processing employee benefits transactions, resolving escalated enquiries, providing advice to staff and managers
and employees.

2. High order organisational skills and ability to work successfully under pressure in a fast-paced environment both individually and as
part of a team and meet a range of deadlines in the payroll processing cycle.

3. Demonstrated sound interpersonal and communication skills, and ability to interact and work effectively with a wide range of people,
including from diverse cultures, with tact and discretion.

4. Well-developed computer literacy, including experience with the various electronic HR processing support systems and information
and records management systems, as well as MS Word, Excel, SharePoint and PowerPoint.

5. High level of attention to detail and accuracy of processing and calculations and the ability to maintain confidentiality
6. Comprehensive knowledge of employment legislation pertaining to Payroll, taxation, salary packaging, workers compensation perks

and superannuation legislative requirements and understanding of Awards and enterprise agreements.
7. Very good working knowledge of the computerised HR systems used in the NTPS, particularly those modules of Personnel Integrated

Payroll System utilised for payroll processing and personal information management or the ability to quickly acquire and apply this.
8. Demonstrated work ethic and attitude, which emulates DCDD values of being professional, accountable, honest, cutting-edge and

respectful.

Desirable
1. Knowledge and practical application of Enterprise Agreements, the Return-to-Work Act and Public Sector Employment and Management

ACT (PSEMA) or similar.
