Primary objective

To lead the administration, provision of high-level advice and ensure the integrity of records for place naming projects in accordance

with statutory requirements and standard practices.

Key duties and responsibilities

1. Lead the Place Names team to provide timely advice and services to the Place Names Committee, land professionals and

developers, the public and government agencies; as well as maintain the integrity of place name register, associated records in

integrated information systems and databases.

1. Lead high level discussions with a variety of clients and stakeholders, including Traditional Owner groups and Land Councils,

on place name requirements, options, opportunities, and initiatives.

1. Prepare reports, submissions, and Ministerial briefings regarding place naming recommendations, and significant or strategic

related place naming initiatives or matters.

1. Develop and sustain collaborative partnerships with the place naming industry to ensure service delivery is of a high quality and

meets their needs and expectations.

1. Actively represent the Department at forums and working groups, both locally and nationally, to develop and implement place

naming policies, standards, practices, guides, or initiatives.

1. Effectively participate in the Survey team, Land information Group initiatives, by contributing innovative ideas and solutions to

modernise, digitise and streamline place name, as well as land survey, processes, and associated information.

Selection criteria

Essential

1. Sound knowledge and experience in place naming or in a land development / administration, or a related statutory environment.

2. Operational ability with integrated land or records management information systems or databases.

1. Demonstrated high-level communication skills and ability to convey subject material, guide decision making, articulate

requirements, present findings and make recommendations to clients or stakeholders.

4. Proven ability to consult, engage, collaborate, and negotiate on political, social, sensitive, confidential, or cultural issues with

clients, stakeholders, and persons from diverse backgrounds.

1. Sound strategic, and analytical skills including the ability to research, interpret and solve problems through creative and lateral

thinking.

1. Well-developed project management and organisational skills, including an ability to manage multiple projects, conflicting

deadlines, and delivery of project objectives within set timeframes.

7. Proven ability to lead a team and achieve work unit outcomes; includes capability to supervise and develop staff, manage work

priorities and performance in a high-pressure environment.

Desirable

1. Bachelor Degree or Diploma in Land Administration or Management, Surveying, Geospatial Sciences, or a similar discipline.
