Job Advertisement: Landfill Manager/Operator – Regional Landfill, Jugiong
Position Overview:
We are seeking an experienced Landfill Manager and Plant Operator to assume responsibility for day-to-day landfill operations of our Regional Landfill near Jugiong NSW. This role focuses exclusively on landfill management while maintaining effective communication with the quarry team operating on the same site. This is not a desk-based role — you will be actively involved on the ground in cell construction, waste placement, plant operation, and environmental management, while also coordinating staff, contractors, and client requirements.
Key Responsibilities:
* Manage and actively participate in landfill operations, including cell construction and waste placement
* Operate and oversee plant as required across daily site activities
* Liaise with SWRWMG, contractors, and company management
* Maintain environmental monitoring and EPA reporting
* Manage leachate systems and landfill gas infrastructure
* Lead site staff and contractors with a strong on-site presence
Ensure compliance with EPA Environmental Protection Licence (EPL) conditions and other regulatory requirements.
Supervise staff working on landfill activities and oversee plant maintenance.
Coordinate with quarry personnel to ensure smooth coexistence of dual-site activities.
Preferred Qualifications:
Strong understanding of landfill waste management practices and environmental compliance.
Experienced operator: front end loader, excavator, dump truck and waste compactor. Knowledge of waste cell construction, compaction, and application of daily cover.
Leadership skills with the ability to manage teams effectively.
Familiarity with EPA regulations and environmental monitoring processes.
Training & Development:
Onsite training will be provided for candidates with relevant plant operating experience.
