House of Quirky is a multi-brand international fashion company based in Sydney, Australia. We are seeking an experienced, creative and commercially minded Senior Designer to lead the development of seasonal collections across our brands Minkpink and Staple the Label.
This is an exciting opportunity for a designer to combine creative vision with commercial awareness. You will be responsible for driving the design process from initial concept through to SMS and final handover to production.
Key Responsibilities
* Collaborate closely with the design team throughout the design process: from initial seasonal research to final concept boards
* Thoroughly research key trends, colours and fabrications relevant to brand DNA
* Work closely with the design and sales teams to shape the concept and overarching direction for each seasonal range
* Review past seasons sales reports to ensure key shapes are evolved and factored in for future collections
* Design ranges that align with the range plan, brand image and budget
* Source and select materials & print bases that achieve the product objective
* Manage print recolouring, labdips and fabric sourcing packs
* Produce CAD technical drawings for tech packs and range boards
* Prepare design tech packs and instructions for factory and measurement spec sheets
* Partner with the production and sales teams to manage product margins and ensure first margin targets are achieved
* Attend fit sessions with the garment technician from first sample to final sample
* Attend and present completed SMS range and costings to key stakeholders for range approval and sign-off
* Prepare and assist with the presentation of final approved range to the senior management team including collection overview, collection name, range selling features and call-outs
* Work with marketing on the preparation and execution of seasonal campaign shoots and lookbook shoots
* As required, provide graphic support with final range book image editing and layout as well as image assets for sales and marketing teams
About You
* Tertiary qualification in Fashion or Design
* 5+ years' experience in a similar design role
* Strong proficiency in Adobe Illustrator and Photoshop
* Comprehensive understanding of garment construction, tech packs and fabrication
* Excellent ability to manage timelines and take initiative
* Strong commercial eye with the ability to interpret trends into products that align with brand direction, customer needs and price architecture
