This role offers an opportunity to support First Nations peoples across Australia.Our network of hostels provides accommodation and meals in a supportive environment, collaborating with local First Nations service providers and referral agencies. Additionally, AHL supports the Australian Government’s initiatives to improve economic outcomes for First Nations people by purchasing from First Nations businesses, fostering an inclusive economy. We are proud to be one of the largest employers of First Nations people in the Australian Public Service, with approximately 50% of our workforce being First Nations employees.What We Offer:Competitive Pay & Benefits: $75,002-$81,775 per annum (pro-rated for part-time), with above-award salary, 15.4% superannuation, and generous leave entitlements.Job Security & Career Growth: Stable, ongoing employment with opportunities for advancement.Supportive Team Environment: Be part of a friendly, inclusive team where your contributions are valued.Flexible Working Arrangements: Flexibility or job-sharing options to suit your needs.Salary Packaging Options: For vehicles, superannuation, laptops, and the ability to salary sacrifice up to $15,900 per FBT year for rent, mortgage, or living expenses.Generous Leave Entitlements: 18 days sick/personal leave per year, cultural and NAIDOC day leave.Employee Assistance Program: Confidential counselling services for employees and their dependants.Free Parking: All-day parking close to the office.Your Typical Day as a Debt Management Officer:Debt Collection and RecoveryMonitoring overdue accounts and ensuring timely collection.Contacting debtors via phone, email, or written correspondence to follow up, negotiate payment plans, and support the Operations Team in debt follow-up.Account ManagementMaintaining accurate records of debtors, payments, and balances.Providing regular reports on overdue accounts and debt collection activities.Customer RelationsServing as the primary contact for debt-related inquiries.Providing excellent customer service while protecting AHL’s interests.Resolving disputes or concerns regarding billing or payments.Our Ideal Candidate Will Have:A deep understanding of Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander cultures and issues affecting First Nations peoples.Excellent written and oral communication, liaison, and negotiation skills.A customer-focused approach with experience managing multiple priorities to meet deadlines.Proficiency in Microsoft Excel within a corporate context.Previous experience in a debt management role.Eligibility:• Australian Citizenship• Satisfactory National Criminal History Check (prior to engagement)• Fitness for Duty clearance (prior to engagement)• Relevant qualifications (held or to be obtained)
