About our Team
The Workforce Capability and Talent (WCT) team within DSTG's Headquarters Division is responsible for building Defence capability through the strategic management of the Defence Science and Technology (S&T) workforce. WCT ensures there is a strong, diverse pipeline to meet the future workforce demand for DSTG through planning workforce capability, partnering to raise the profile of STEM, engaging with talent pools and developing sustainable talent management strategies.
Our team consists of six key functions including Culture Transformation, Entry Workforce (which includes entry-level programs), STEM Outreach and Engagement, Diversity and Inclusion, Strategic Workforce Planning and Current Workforce (which includes learning and development and key workforce programs). We also lead the critical 'People' foundation of the Defence Innovation Science and Technology Strategy 'Accelerating Asymmetric Advantage; Delivering More, Together' which focussed on developing a highly skilled and collaborative workforce which values diversity, where everyone can thrive.
The WCT team is relatively small, but highly agile, and team members often work across teams to assist in key projects at peak times, including assisting in key STEM based events.
Our Ideal Candidate
Our ideal candidate will demonstrate initiative and be able to work in a dynamically changing and ambiguous environment. You will be able to manage the day-to-day running of the Culture Action Team, including delivering briefings to senior leaders and monitoring progress. You will have the ability to communicate a strong narrative around culture and inclusion in an engaging way.
You will have an understanding of what shapes workforce culture and how to drive change in complex environments. You will have success in developing and implementing evidence-based frameworks, programs and/or initiatives that address barriers to participation for underrepresented groups to support culture and inclusion outcomes in an S&T environment, and a demonstrated understanding of issues and trends relating to equity and inclusion.
You will have the ability to influence and build strong stakeholder relationships to work seamlessly across Defence. You will thrive on solving problems and driving change, and have excellent attention to detail.
