Instrumentation & Controls Engineer

Key Responsibilities:

* Develop, review, and maintain technical documentation including instrument data sheets, P&IDs, loop diagrams, wiring diagrams, functional descriptions, cause and effect matrices, and control logic diagrams.
* Select and specify instrumentation such as pressure and temperature transmitters, flow meters, analytical instruments, as well as control valves and actuators for use in minerals processing and utility systems.
* Prepare detailed scopes of work and manage procurement, installation, and commissioning of instrumentation, control valves, and associated equipment.
* Oversee and coordinate external vendors in the programming, configuration, and testing of control systems to ensure alignment with functional design specifications.
* Ensure all engineering work complies with relevant industry standards (e.g., AS, ISA, IEC) and local safety regulations.
* Contribute as a subject matter expert during design and safety review workshops such as HAZOP, LOPA, and SIL assessments.
* Collaborate within a multidisciplinary R&D team, working closely with engineers, scientists, project managers, and technical operations personnel.
* Promote safety and process safety through sound engineering practices, robust design, and timely escalation of risks or issues.
* Work effectively across multiple concurrent projects in a dynamic environment and respond flexibly to evolving priorities and ambitious timelines.

Qualifications and Skills:

* Bachelor's degree in Instrumentation Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Control Systems, or a related discipline.
* Minimum of 5 years' relevant industry experience.
* Proficiency in specifying instrumentation and control valves.
* Hands-on experience with DCS and PLC systems, particularly Siemens platforms, from configuration through to commissioning.
* Background in slurry handling systems or wet minerals processing is highly desirable.
* Experience in R&D environments, pilot plant operations, field commissioning, and troubleshooting is advantageous.
* Familiarity with Electrical Equipment in Hazardous Areas per AS/NZS 60079 standards is a plus.
