Paspaley Pearling Company is seeking a reliable and experienced Draftsperson to join our dynamic team.
Job Purpose
To contribute to the design, development, and engineering support of commercial marine vessels by producing high-quality CAD drawings and models that meet operational requirements, and maritime regulations.
This role ensures compliance with technical specifications while fostering innovation and continuous improvement.

Key Responsibilities
Assist in design and development of commercial marine vessels used in pearling and aquaculture operations
Create and maintain 2D & 3D drafting for vessel design projects
Collaborate with design and production teams to transform concepts into precise CAD
Preparing calculations, drawings, and reports in accordance with maritime regulations, technical specifications and update technical drawings throughout the project life cycle to ensure accuracy in design requirements.
Collaborating closely with internal teams (design, production, operations, procurement) and external stakeholders (classification societies, suppliers, contractors)
Creating drawings to support ship and minor vessel repairs and modifications and provide project administration support.
Assisting with reverse engineering, capturing/drawing old modifications and bring old hand drawings into 2/3D.
Role Requirements
Experience in 2D drafting and 3D modelling principles
Experience with software such as Maxsurf, Rhino, and FEA tools (preferred)
An interest in the maritime and aquaculture sectors
Strong proficiency in AutoCAD, Rhino and Microsoft Office Suite
High attention to detail and strong problem-solving skills
A self-motivated attitude, with the ability to work independently and collaboratively
Excellent verbal and written communication skills
A willingness to learn and contribute across a variety of commercial vessel projects
Australian citizenship or relevant work rights
A diploma, degree or similar qualifications in Marine design, Mechanical Engineering, or a related discipline
