Looking for a Systems support engineer for a client who has an immediate need for a 6-month day rate contractor to join them ASAP based in either Sydney, Melbourne or Brisbane.
Working with a large enterprise environment looking for a hands-on Systems Support Engineer to join a critical technology team supporting complex, business-critical applications. This role sits at the intersection of software, systems, and DevOps. It's well suited to someone who started their career in software engineering and has gained experience in a systems or DevOps focused role who enjoys troubleshooting real production issues.
You'll be responsible for supporting and stabilising production systems, responding to incidents, and working closely with engineering teams to resolve issues at both application and infrastructure level. While this is not a full-stack development role, you will need to be comfortable reading, debugging, and troubleshooting Java or .NET applications and integrating fixes into CI/CD pipelines.
Key Responsibilities
* Provide hands-on production support for complex application systems
• Troubleshoot and resolve business-critical incidents
• Debug Java or .NET applications to identify root cause issues
• Work across cloud and infrastructure components to stabilise environments
• Support and maintain CI/CD pipelines and deployment processes
• Monitor systems using logging and observability tools
Must-Have Requirements:
1. Production Support & Incident Management Experience– Hands-on experience troubleshooting and resolving business-critical incidents in complex application systems.
2. Core Programming & Debugging Skills– Experience with Java / Javascript, familiarity with Angular, Typescript, Python & Powershell; strong debugging and problem-solving skills.
3. Cloud & Infrastructure Knowledge– Practical understanding of at least one major cloud platform (AWS, Azure, or GCP).
4. DevOps / CI/CD Exposure– Experience with CI/CD tools (e.g. Jenkins, Azure Pipelines) and supporting continuous delivery practices.
5. Monitoring, Logging & Agile Ways of Working– Experience with application monitoring/logging tools (Datadog, Prometheus, Grafana) and comfort working in Agile teams (Scrum/Kanban)
