We are partnering with a national B2B distribution business that supplies high-frequency, repeat-use products to workshop, trade, and maintenance environments, supported by a large, well-structured field sales team.
This role is for a sales leader who has built their career leading large, high-activity field sales teams in direct-to-customer environments, where performance is driven by territory discipline, activity, and consistent field execution.
The opportunity
You will lead a national field sales team of ~50, structured through State Sales Managers and territory-based representatives.
This is a hands‐on leadership role, requiring strong visibility across the field and a focus on:
* activity levels and call cycles
* territory ownership and coverage
* coaching and development of frontline teams
What you'll be doing
* Leading and developing State Sales Managers across multiple regions
* Driving performance across a large, geographically dispersed field sales team
* Embedding structure across the sales force: call planning, coverage, conversion and accountability
* Lifting sales productivity, territory balance and rep effectiveness
* Strengthening CRM discipline, forecasting and sales cadence
* Maintaining key customer relationships while staying closely connected to field execution
Your background
You will have built your experience in environments where:
* Sales teams operate in defined territories with daily customer interaction
* Products are consumed regularly and replenished frequently
* Growth is driven by activity, coverage and consistency, not one-off deals
Relevant backgrounds may include:
* workshop and trade supply environments
* automotive, transport or fleet servicing markets
* industrial maintenance or MRO distribution
* fastening, tooling, PPE or related consumables
You will also bring
* 5–8+ years in senior sales leadership, leading through regional or state layers
* Experience managing large, dispersed field teams (20–50+ reps)
* A track record of improving sales discipline, structure and performance across territories
* Strong commercial capability across pricing, margin and performance metrics
This role is not suited to
* Leaders primarily focused on key accounts or enterprise sales
* Backgrounds in capital equipment, OEM or project-based sales
* Sales leadership through distributor/channel models rather than direct field teams
* Senior executives operating at a purely strategic or corporate level
