Our newly formed Tax Disputes team offers new lawyers an unique experience of working on complex ATO reviews and audits.
This is an opportunity to work side by side with our Directors and Partners in a genuinely collaborative and client-centric environment.

In the program, which is based in our Sydney office, you will dive into real tax reviews and disputes from day one, learning directly from some of the industry's most respected tax lawyers.
Our partners bring over 40 years of combined experience to your development.
As a graduate you can expect to be involved in meaningful client work across tax disputes, growing your technical capability, commercial judgement and confidence as a lawyer through the quality and variety of matters you will take on.
You will work solely in Tax Disputes with clients such as large corporations, high net worth individuals and private business.
Our disputes cover income tax, GST, state taxes and a wide variety of administrative law issues as well.
Key Responsibilities
Drafting submissions to the ATO
Conducting strategic legal research on niche points of law
Assisting with drafting witness statements
Assisting with drafting responses to ATO position papers
Organising and attending client conferences
Reviewing client documents and providing initial advice for Manager or Partner review
Obtaining FOI documents from the ATO in order to advise clients on their potential defences
Drafting briefs to counsel
Working with counsel on collating and analysing evidence
Assisting with file and project management of matters
Qualifications
Studying or recently graduated a Law degree, or combined Law double degree.
A keen interest in taxation, disputes, or regulatory work.
An analytical mindset.
Curiosity and strong willingness to learn.
Strong organisation and time-management skills.
Resilience and adaptability.
Due to program requirements, we can only consider applicants who are Australian citizens or permanent residents.
