Join our Transitional Recovery Service (TRS) in a casual Recovery Support Worker – Advanced role based on the Gold Coast, where you will play a key role in supporting people at a critical stage of their mental health recovery. This community-based, step-up/step-down service supports individuals transitioning from acute inpatient mental health settings, as well as those at risk of hospital admission, helping to reduce prolonged or future hospital stays.
In this role, you will deliver high-quality, recovery-oriented psychosocial support tailored to individual needs within a short-term, transitional environment. Working as part of a multidisciplinary team, you will support people to stabilise, build independence, develop daily living skills, and reconnect with their community.
As an Advanced worker, you will bring experience and confidence to support consistent practice, contribute to team capability, and assist with client assessments, risk management, and service delivery. You will work collaboratively with internal and external stakeholders, maintain accurate documentation and reporting, and contribute to a safe, therapeutic environment grounded in recovery, dignity, and inclusion.
This is a dynamic, hands-on role that operates across a 24/7 roster, including weekends, sleepovers, and shift work.
Key Responsibilities
* Deliver high-quality, recovery-oriented psychosocial support to individuals transitioning from hospital or at risk of admission, promoting independence and reducing the need for further inpatient care
* Support clients to build daily living skills, establish routines, and achieve meaningful recovery goals through strengths-based, person-centred practice
* Contribute to client safety and wellbeing by assisting with assessments, risk management, and support planning within a structured, short-term recovery environment
* Work collaboratively with multidisciplinary teams and external stakeholders to coordinate care, strengthen community connections, and support sustainable recovery outcomes
* Foster a safe, respectful, and therapeutic environment that values lived experience, empowerment, and inclusion
* Maintain accurate, timely documentation and contribute to reporting requirements using organisational systems and mobile technologies
* Provide informal leadership within the team, supporting consistent practice, problem-solving, and positive team dynamics
* Actively contribute to continuous improvement by identifying opportunities to enhance service delivery and client outcomes
You will have:
* A degree in a human services-related field with relevant experience, or a lesser qualification with substantial experience
* Experience (or ability to quickly acquire skills) in developing and implementing support plans aligned to Models of Practice
* Ability to provide supervisory support and build productive working relationships
* Demonstrated understanding of the mental health and/or community services sector
* Strong communication, problem-solving and conflict resolution skills, with the ability to work collaboratively with stakeholders
* Ability to plan, prioritise and manage work, with proficiency in digital systems and adherence to organisational policies and WHS requirements
