We are seeking to establish a pool of Big Picture Education Teachers for permanent and fixed term, full-time and part time vacancies which may arise during 2026. Appointments may be offered at any time for vacancies that commence during this period.
The School
At Karratha Senior High School (SHS) we empower every student to embrace opportunities, build resilience, and contribute positively to society. Karratha SHS is an independent public school for students from Years 7 to 12. Our school serves a diverse population of approximately 1,270 students and offers programs in music, drama, art, sport, and outdoor education. The Technologies building provides facilities for students to learn skills for trades industries.

The Role
Karratha Senior High School is seeking passionate and innovative teachers to lead students as an advisory teacher within our Big Picture Learning Academy, for students in Year 9–12. The program encourages students to identify and pursue their interests and passions through advisory groups, individualised learning projects and internships. Students complete Year 11 and 12 through the International Big Picture Learning Credential.
Responsibilities include engaging students in learning through the Big Picture Learning design, fostering independence and enquiry, and working with families, industry mentors and the school community to provide personalised and differentiated learning. You will be responsible for student learning across the curriculum, including literacy and numeracy, aligned to individual goals. The role emphasises trauma-informed practice and Positive Behaviour Support to ensure a positive classroom environment and the school values of responsibility, respect and inclusivity.
Ideal applicants will be strong communicators with leadership skills, capable of promoting the school’s values and building positive relationships with students and the wider community.
Eligibility and Qualifications
- Hold an eligible teacher qualification and registration
- Be an Australian or New Zealand citizen, permanent resident, or have a valid visa with work rights for the term of the appointment
- Apply for a WA Working with Children Check before you start
- Consent to a Nationally Coordinated Criminal History Check and obtain a current Screening Clearance Number issued by the Department of Education’s Screening Unit before you start
