Employment Type: Temporary Full Time; 38 hours per week up to March 2026
Position Classification: Health Clinician Level 3 or Clinical Nurse Specialist Grade 2 or Psychologist
Location: Royal Prince Alfred Hospital

This role sits within Drug Health Services (DHS), which aims to reduce harms from substance use and to prevent drug misuse. The service delivers evidence-based, patient-centred care in collaboration with health and non-health partners to improve health outcomes for individuals, families and communities. Services are provided at Canterbury, Concord Repatriation General and Royal Prince Alfred Hospitals and at multiple Health Centres. Selected programs may offer services in community and via approved outreach arrangements.

The Drug and Alcohol Clinician works within the multidisciplinary Assertive Community Management (ACM) team to provide flexible and holistic services to clients with drug and alcohol use who experience complex needs in a community setting. Activities include assessment, case management and coordination, education, referrals and follow-up for ACM program clients. The SLHD ACM program collaborates with ACM teams from South East Sydney Local Health District and St Vincent's Hospital Network.

Ideal Candidate

1. Must hold the following qualifications:
2. Registered Nurse with current AHPRA registration and at least 3 years of experience in a relevant area with post-registration qualifications deemed appropriate by the organisation.
3. Social Worker with a Bachelor Degree or equivalent in social work eligible for membership of the Australia Association of Social Workers, with experience at Level 2 or higher.
4. Occupational Therapist with a Bachelor Degree or equivalent in occupational therapy, current AHPRA registration, with experience at Level 2 or higher.
5. Qualifications recognised for employment as a Counsellor or Welfare Officer under the NSW Health Service Health Professionals (State) Award, with experience at Level 2 or higher.
6. Psychologist with a Bachelor Degree in psychology and AHPRA registration, eligible for membership of the Australian Psychological Society, with experience at Level 2 or higher.
* Advanced knowledge, skills and clinical experience in drug and alcohol work, including knowledge of harm minimisation approaches.
* Advanced skills in assessment, case management, negotiation and advocacy for vulnerable clients with complex drug and alcohol and psychosocial needs.
* Current NSW Driver's Licence (P1 and P2 acceptable).
