Senior Technical Officer – Protection – Hobart

About the role: You will deliver high‐quality secondary and primary testing and commissioning activities across hydro power stations, substations, and switchyards. You will contribute to major project delivery, support change and innovation, and help cultivate a strong safety culture.

  • Provide secondary and primary testing, maintenance and commissioning across schemes, including factory acceptance testing (FAT) and site acceptance testing (SAT).
  • Develop and provide technical reviews and approvals for ITPs, test and commissioning reports, and project documentation.
  • Offer technical guidance and mentoring to less experienced team members.
  • Prepare major project estimates and proposals for internal and external clients.
  • Support compliance with regulatory requirements and industry standards.
  • Minimum 6 years' experience in testing and commissioning secondary and primary systems, controls, protection, and metering schemes.
  • Strong experience with Omicron CMC256 and Test Universe.
  • Ability to work independently, solve complex technical problems, and apply strong professional judgement.
  • High‐level written and verbal communication skills.
  • Strong computing capability and proficiency using automated protection test sets.

Technical Officer – Primary Electrical Design Drafter – Hobart

About the role: Design and produce primary electrical layout drawings for transmission and distribution substations, switchyards, and lines. Contribute to project teams and develop design concepts.

  • Prepare 2D primary electrical layout designs and related drawings.
  • Support project teams with design detailing, drafting, and documentation.
  • Collaborate with engineering direction to generate design concepts.
  • Assist with 3D modelling of foundations, equipment, or structures where required.
  • Good working knowledge of 2D or 3D CAD software (Autodesk, Inventor, Microstation, Solidworks).
  • Minimum 1 year of experience in a drafting or design role.
  • Certificate IV in Engineering Drafting or equivalent (or higher).
  • Previous experience in an engineering design consultancy environment preferred.
  • Experience working on electrical utility projects.

Senior Protection Engineer – Field Testing – Hobart

About the role: Lead field testing and commissioning activities for secondary, control, and protection systems in hydro power stations, ensuring compliance, safety, and quality standards.

  • Deliver best‐practice field testing and engineering consulting services for protection systems, FAT, SAT, and commissioning.
  • Lead the development of ITPs, isolation sheets, and work procedures.
  • Provide technical reviews and approvals for ITPs, test and commissioning reports.
  • Offer technical guidance and mentoring to less experienced team members.
  • Prepare major project estimates and proposals for internal and external clients.
  • Support compliance with regulatory requirements and industry standards.
  • Minimum 10 years' experience in testing and commissioning of secondary systems, controls, and protection schemes for high‐energy generation and transmission.
  • Teritiary qualifications in Electrical Engineering or equivalent.

  • Strong problem‐solving skills and ability to work independently.

Senior Hydrologist – Melbourne / Hobart

About the role: Deliver and manage a broad range of hydrological projects related to natural systems, storage, spillways, dams, weirs, and renewable energy infrastructure.

About the role: Deliver hands‐on structural and civil engineering design solutions and assessments for transmission tower and foundation assets, contributing to project management and client relationships.

  • Design and assess transmission tower structures and foundations.
  • Prepare and review bids, proposals, and client documentation.
  • Manage project lifecycle from design to construction phases.
  • Engage with clients and internal stakeholders to align engineering solutions.
  • Degree in Civil or Mechanical Engineering (or equivalent).

Senior Electrical Engineer – Power Systems – Melbourne / Hobart

About the role: Provide technical support and leadership for power systems projects, including generator performance standards compliance, model validations, and project management.

  • Review work of junior team members and provide technical guidance.
  • Maintain relationships with existing clients and interface with Entura as primary contact.
  • Lead connectivity studies, GPS compliance assessments, model overlays and validation using PSSE, PSCAD, and other tools.
  • Manage smaller projects and contribute to larger project milestones.
  • 7+ years of experience in power system studies, grid connections, and performance assessment.
  • Tertiary qualifications in Electrical Engineering.
  • Experience with PSSE, PSCAD, Powerfactory, and other power system modelling software.
  • Knowledge of Python, Matlab, SINCAL, and other coding tools highly desirable.
  • Professional oversight (CPEng, RPEQ, RPEV) strongly preferred.
  • Ability to diagnose and troubleshoot independently.
