The Opportunity: We are looking for an experienced and reliable Cook to be a key player in our busy kitchen. As a Cook, you are the engine of our culinary team, responsible for consistently preparing high-quality dishes according to our Head Chef's specifications. The ideal candidate is efficient, detail-oriented, and works well in a team. This is a great opportunity to perfect your craft in a skilled, high-end Chinese kitchen.
Responsibilities
Prepare and cook a wide range of authentic Chinese dishes, including dim sum, roasted meats, stir-fries, soups, and desserts.
Assist in preparing ingredients, including chopping, marinating, and blanching, according to kitchen protocols.
Follow recipes, portion guides, and presentation standards to ensure consistency across all dishes.
Properly store and handle food to prevent contamination and spoilage.
Clean kitchen equipment, workstations, and cooking utensils regularly to uphold hygiene standards.
Monitor stock levels and assist with ordering fresh, high-quality ingredients.
Minimise food waste and manage perishable goods effectively.
Collaborate with chefs and other kitchen staff to ensure efficient workflow during service.
Support and mentor junior kitchen staff, sharing knowledge of cooking techniques and safety practices.
Communicate with front-of-house staff to ensure timely and accurate delivery of dishes.
Accommodate guest dietary requests, allergies, and special preferences.
Maintain a clean, organised, and safe kitchen environment, complying with Australian food safety and hygiene regulations.
Qualifications
At least 1 year proven experience as a Cook, preferably in Chinese or Asian cuisine.
Strong knowledge of cooking techniques, ingredient handling, and kitchen operations.
Ability to follow recipes and maintain consistency in flavour, portion, and presentation.
Ability to work efficiently in a fast-paced, high-volume kitchen environment.
Team player with good communication skills and a positive, collaborative attitude.
Knowledge of Australian food safety, hygiene regulations, and workplace health standards.
Willingness to learn new techniques and adapt to seasonal menu changes.
