Aboriginal Intensive Bail Support Officer (Moree) – Youth Justice

Temporary, Full‑Time up to 4 years.

Location: Moree.

Salary: $107,131 - $116,969 pa, plus superannuation and annual leave loading.

This position is open to Australian Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander people only.

Role Overview

The Aboriginal Youth Justice Intensive Bail Support Officer delivers frontline voluntary bail support and community development, connecting young people with internal and external services. The role reduces reoffending, builds on young people’s strengths, and supports reintegration into family and community.

What You’ll Do

- Build and maintain strong relationships with Aboriginal communities and key stakeholders to deliver services.
- Provide intensive support to young people on bail who are not under supervised orders.
- Use a strengths‑based approach to engage voluntary participants.
- Deliver targeted case‑management interventions addressing individual risks and needs.
- Collaborate with Youth Justice staff, government agencies and NGOs to connect young people with services and monitor progress.
- Engage families, communities and young people to foster community development initiatives and partnerships.
- Liaise with police and legal services, providing advice, briefings, reports and formal communications.
- Maintain accurate records and ensure data integrity across relevant information systems.
- Equip young people and families with tools and support needed for positive life changes.
- Remain responsive to change and comply with departmental policies, procedures and best practice guidelines.

What We’re Looking For

- Relevant tertiary qualifications (diploma or higher) in social work, welfare, psychology, criminology, education or related field, or equivalent experience.
- Current NSW Working with Children Clearance.
- Current NSW Driver’s Licence.
- Experience working with Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander youth.
- Willingness to travel larger distances within regional areas.

Additional Requirements for Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander Applicants

- Provide confirmation of Aboriginality using the approved form or written confirmation from Aboriginal organisations.
