ABOUT US
The Salvation Army is a Christian movement and one of Australia's largest and most-loved charities. We believe in doing good that transforms lives and futures for the better. It is this belief which drives us to find new ways and places where we can make a difference. From times of personal crisis to moments of national grief, we are always here — providing support, safety, community, and opportunity.
Why this role matters
The Salvation Army Whyalla is a place where people find hope, purpose and community. As Ministry Team Leader, you will stand at the centre of this mission—walking alongside people seeking connection, guidance and transformation. Whyalla is a culturally rich and diverse community, including a significant number of First Nations families, creating a deeply meaningful ministry environment where relationships, respect and presence truly matter.
About the role
The Ministry Team Leader provides spiritual, relational and organisational leadership to the Whyalla Corps. You will champion mission, nurture a healthy and outward-focused faith community, and help people grow spiritually, emotionally, socially and physically. You will lead worship, discipleship, pastoral care and community engagement, while ensuring the Corps remains vibrant, sustainable and aligned with TSA’s mission and values.
This role is hands-on, people-centred and deeply connected to the local community. You will help build a thriving Corps that is visible, engaged and responsive to the needs of Whyalla, while strengthening partnerships across TSA mission expressions and local organisations.

* Build strong relationships with local organisations, schools, churches and community groups
* Develop and deliver the annual Local Mission Plan in consultation with Corps leadership
* Oversee Corps programs, fundraising activities and administrative processes
* Ensure safe, compliant and mission-aligned service delivery across all Corps activities
What you will bring

* Demonstrated experience building and leading effective teams
* Tertiary qualifications (Diploma or above) in Mission, Theology, teaching, psychology, social work, youth work, community services or equivalent experience
* Be or have a willingness and eligibility to become a Soldier of The Salvation Army and sign the Soldier’s Covenant prior to employment
* Current driver’s licence
* Flexibility to work weekends and outside standard hours
* Availability during key periods (Easter, Christmas, Red Shield Appeal) unless leave is pre-approved by the Divisional Commander.
What we offer
* Generous paid parental leave for primary (12 weeks) and secondary carers
* Purchased Leave Scheme (up to 8 weeks)
* Up to 5 days paid leave per year to support a TSA program or activity
* Flexible working arrangements
* A work vehicle provided that can be used for personal use
