We are looking for a Senior Principal Transmission Line Engineer to lead high‑voltage overhead line projects across Australia and New Zealand, providing technical leadership and assurance across multiple complex programs.
The ideal candidate will bring experience delivering detailed transmission line designs, validating PLS‑based models, enforcing compliance with Australian and international standards, and coordinating multidisciplinary teams across the full project lifecycle.
They will represent the organisation in client and industry forums, drive technical direction, and apply deep expertise in tower design and advanced PLS modelling while mentoring others and strengthening the organisation's standing as a top‑tier engineering provider in the APAC region.
About the role:
* Lead and deliver high‑voltage transmission line designs (AC and/or DC up to 500 kV)
* Produce and review tower designs, structure loadings, and line route engineering
* Develop and validate models using PLS‑CADD, PLS‑Tower, PLS‑Pole, and related PLS software
* Provide technical support, troubleshooting, and design assurance across multiple projects
* Ensure compliance with Australian and international standards, including AS/NZS 7000
* Collaborate with internal engineering teams, clients, and external stakeholders.
* Contribute to the technical leadership, innovation, and continuous improvement initiatives
* Represent the organisation in industry forums, client meetings, and technical discussions.
Key Requirements:
* Tertiary qualification in Civil or Structural Engineering
* High‑voltage transmission tower design experience (AC and/or DC up to 500 kV)
* Demonstrated leadership in guiding technical delivery, mentoring junior engineers, and influencing design quality and direction across multidisciplinary teams
* Minimum 4 years' experience in the design and delivery of transmission infrastructure
* Advanced proficiency in PLS‑CADD, PLS‑Tower, and PLS‑Pole, with the ability to run complex modelling, loading calculations, structural assessments, and interpret/validate engineering outputs
* Advanced technical understanding of overhead transmission line systems, structural design principles, and associated standards
* Strong working knowledge of AS/NZS 7000, relevant IEC/IEEE standards, and utility‑specific design requirements, ensuring all designs meet safety, reliability, and regulatory expectations
* Strong analytical, coordination, and communication skills with a focus on quality and delivery
* Chartered Professional Engineer (CPEng) accreditation preferred
* Capability in transmission tower design, technical support, troubleshooting, communication, and stakeholder engagement
