APG are currently seeking an experienced and motivated Leading Hand (2IC) to join our Livestock Division leadership team.
We are ideally seeking a local candidate, as this role requires assisting with alarms and on-site support in the absence of the Farm Manager.
About the Role
As Leading Hand (2IC), you will play a key leadership role in supporting daily farm operations, ensuring animal welfare standards are upheld, and maintaining a safe and efficient work environment.
You will assist in supervising staff, allocating daily tasks, monitoring performance, and ensuring all work is completed in line with biosecurity and WHS requirements.
Key Responsibilities
* Support and lead the livestock team in daily operations
* Allocate tasks and monitor performance to ensure work is completed safely and efficiently
* Ensure strong compliance with biosecurity procedures
* Maintain high standards of animal welfare
* Monitor feeding, watering, ventilation, and lighting systems
* Identify hazards and ensure safe work practices are followed
* Enforce PPE requirements and safe manual handling practices
* Complete basic farm records and documentation
* Assist with alarm responses when required
* Work weekends when necessary
About You
* Experience in poultry farming (preferred)
* Breeder or rearing farming experience (desirable)
* Strong understanding of feeding, watering, ventilation and lighting systems
* Proven leadership ability and experience supporting a team
* Strong communication skills with the ability to give clear instructions
* Confident in raising issues and promoting safe practices
* Strong commitment to animal welfare
* Basic computer literacy
* Current Driver's Licence
* Available to work weekends as required
