About the Role
Fresco Marketplace is a locally owned independent grocer in Coffs Harbour, known for quality produce and strong community values.
We are seeking an experienced Produce Assistant Manager to support the daily operation of our produce department. This is a hands-on leadership role working closely with the Produce Manager to maintain high standards of quality, presentation, and team performance.
This position is paid in accordance with the General Retail Industry Award, with an annualised salary reflecting the responsibilities of the role.
Key Responsibilities
• Support the Produce Manager in the daily running of the produce department
• Maintain high standards of produce quality, freshness, and presentation
• Assist with ordering, stock control, rotation, and waste management
• Supervise, train, and support produce staff during shifts
• Act as Produce Manager during periods of leave or absence
• Ensure compliance with food safety, hygiene, and workplace procedures
• Provide friendly, community-focused customer service
• Work occasional weekend shifts as required
About You
• Experience in fresh produce retail (senior team member, supervisor, or 2IC)
• Strong product knowledge and handling standards
• Comfortable working in an independent grocery environment
• Confident leading and supporting a small team
• Reliable, organised, and able to work autonomously
• Physically capable of a hands-on role with early starts
• Flexible to assist with occasional weekend work
