We are seeking a skilled SharePoint Information Architect to lead the design, implementation, and governance of SharePoint-based information architecture for enterprise collaboration and content management solutions. The ideal candidate will have deep experience in SharePoint Online (M365), strong understanding of metadata,
taxonomies, and records management, and the ability to engage stakeholders to align digital solutions with business needs.
SharePoint Information Architect Key Responsibilities
* Design and implement SharePoint information architecture, including site structures, libraries, metadata, and permissions.
* Develop governance models, policies, and standards for content lifecycle, user access, and document management.
* Conduct requirements gathering sessions with business stakeholders and translate them into scalable SharePoint solutions.
* Create and maintain taxonomies, content types, and metadata schemas to improve search, classification, and compliance.
* Provide strategic input for migration of legacy content to SharePoint Online, ensuring integrity and usability.
* Collaborate with developers, business analysts, and project managers to deliver user-centric solutions.
* Support integration of SharePoint with other M365 tools (Teams, Power Automate, PowerApps, OneDrive).
* Deliver training, support, and documentation to business users and administrators.
SharePoint Information Architect Required Skills and Experience
* 5+ years of experience in designing and implementing SharePoint-based information architecture.
* Strong understanding of SharePoint Online / Microsoft 365, including modern sites, document libraries, lists, metadata, and permissions.
* Proven experience with enterprise content management (ECM) and record management principles.
* Knowledge of Power Platform (Power Automate, Power Apps) and their integration with SharePoint.
* Familiarity with compliance, security, and governance frameworks within M365.
* Experience with tools like ShareGate, AvePoint, or Metalogix for migrations is a plus.
* Excellent communication and stakeholder engagement skills.
Desirable
* Microsoft Certifications (e.g., MS-102, MS-600, PL-200)
* Previous experience in government or regulated industries
* Experience in change management or user adoption initiatives
