Mount Isa Mines is currently advertising a vacancy that exists for the role of Supervisor – Maintenance Support, reporting to the Superintendent – Concentrator Maintenance. This position is residentially based in Mount Isa, working a 8/6 day shift roster.
This Position
This is an integral staff position within our Zinc Maintenance team. The position will provide leadership and technical expertise to the mechanical shift team while maintaining the processing plant assets and attending to critical emergent work.
Supervision and coordination of mechanical activities to ensure work is completed safely, efficiently, and in line with site standards.

The successful candidate will be responsible for:
Leading and mentoring mechanical trades, contractors, and support personnel
Demonstrate safety leadership and ensure compliance to relevant policies, standards and procedures for the team
Ensure all personnel are inducted, trained, and competent prior to commencing work
Work closely with maintenance planners to plan and execute preventative and corrective maintenance activities
Ensure tasks are executed to a high-quality standard, with no rework required and housekeeping is conducted effectively once work has finalised
Ensure work order compliance when tasks are completed, creating an auditable history of who did what, how long it took, when, and what materials were used
Support asset reliability, plant performance, and continuous improvement initiatives
Work with cross-functional departments processing, engineering, and procurement teams to improve operational systems, procedures and processes
Assist in preparation for shutdowns ensuring adequate labour, hire equipment, tools and tasks are fully scoped
Prioritise work according to business requirements ensuring resources are available and used in a manner that promotes the greatest return on safety and production
Comply with and continually review all relevant KPI's in your area of responsibility including safety, plant availability and work management
Responsible for the optimisation of assigned resources and continuous improvement to minimise cost and waste.
To succeed in this role you will have:
Trade qualification (Mechanical / HD Fitter / Boilermaker or similar)
S1 / S2 / S3 Training for Supervisors
Post trade technical qualifications - an associate diploma mechanical engineering would be well regarded
Minimum of 2 years' experience supervising mechanical teams in mining or heavy industry
Extensive experienced in performing maintenance on Sag and ball mills, pumps, compressors, gearboxes, conveyor systems and auxiliary equipment
Demonstrated ability to develop, plan and execute maintenance activities in a deadline driven environment
Proficient in the use of SAP and Microsoft Office suite
Strong exposure to fixed plant maintenance and fault finding
Ability to demonstrates positive attitude, resilience and openness to change
To lead form the front, be visible to increase engagements, motivation and ongoing improvements
A focus on defined goals and expectations, strive for consistency to achieve excellence in all tasks
Ability to follow through on commitments and have sense of responsibility to the organisation
Develop the ability of others, providing ongoing feedback and providing opportunities to learn through training
Ability to work with people and develop ongoing rapport with the crew
