We are looking for a Manager – Marketing (Coal Vessel Survey) to drive business growth for coal vessel survey, draft survey, and cargo inspection services across Queensland's major coal export ports. You will secure vessel nominations, build strategic relationships with miners, traders, and shipping companies, and grow our market share in the marine survey segment. Queensland's major terminals include Port of Gladstone, Hay Point Coal Terminal, Dalrymple Bay Coal Terminal, and Abbot Point. Key Responsibilities Business Development Secure vessel nominations for draft survey, loading supervision, and coal cargo inspection Develop business from coal exporters, mining companies, and charterers operating in Queensland Increase survey job volume across Gladstone, Hay Point, and DBCT terminals Achieve annual revenue targets from vessel survey services Key Account Management Build and manage relationships with coal mining companies (Bowen Basin producers), export terminals and logistics operators, coal traders and international buyers, shipping companies and vessel charterers, and inspection agencies and laboratories Conduct regular port visits and client meetings across the Gladstone and Mackay regions Port-Based Marketing & Vessel Tracking Track daily vessel line-ups and shipping schedules at Queensland ports Coordinate with agents and terminals for upcoming vessel nominations Position the company as the preferred surveyor for coal loading and discharge Develop strong links with ship agents and port stakeholders Tendering, Contracts & Commercial Strategy Monitor tenders and RFQs for marine survey and coal inspection services Prepare techno-commercial proposals and per-vessel pricing models Negotiate long-term rate contracts with exporters and traders Finalise service agreements and annual contracts Market Intelligence Analyse coal export trends from Queensland ports Track competitor activity in marine survey and inspection services Monitor freight movement and cargo flows to Asia (China, India, Japan, Korea) Operations Coordination Coordinate with marine surveyors for timely deployment Ensure 24/7 manpower availability for vessel surveys Align client schedules with survey execution and reporting timelines Resolve operational and client service issues at port level Branding & Industry Representation Represent the company at coal, mining, and maritime forums in Australia Conduct technical presentations to miners and exporters Promote services including Draft Survey, Coal Sampling & Inspection, Loading/Discharge Supervision, and Bunker Survey What We're Looking For Qualifications Bachelor's degree in Marketing, Marine, Mining, Logistics, or Business MBA (Marketing or International Business) preferred Experience 8–15 years in coal inspection, marine survey, cargo inspection, or bulk commodity shipping/logistics Strong existing network in Queensland coal ports highly preferred Skills Established network with ship agents and exporters Knowledge of draft survey and coal inspection standards (ISO/ASTM) Commercial negotiation and contract management Port operations and vessel scheduling knowledge Strategic business development in the bulk commodity sector Leadership and multi-port coordination capability Reporting Structure Reports to: CEO, Australia Works closely with: Port Operations Manager, Chief Marine Surveyor, Laboratory Manager (Coal Testing) Work Mode: On-site LI-JM1 LI-Onsite Thank you for considering this opportunity.
