The Role
We are looking for an experienced HSE Advisor to lead and promote positive safety practices across our dynamic team of plant operators, truck drivers and workshop fitters. Your expertise will support the team in achieving productivity, cost, and quality targets—safely and efficiently.
As the HSE Advisor you will be responsible for assisting the Operations Manager with safety management system implementation, which includes updating policies and procedures for new projects when required. This is a hands role working across multiple sites.
Job tasks and responsibilities
* Provide instruction, training, advice and guidance on all matters health and safety
* Monitor and negotiate any conflict resolutions relating to health and safety matters
* Disseminate all relevant health and safety information and documentation to all personnel representing Cardinal Contractors, customers, stakeholders or mine site personnel as required
* Prepare reports for Management relating to occupational health and safety
* Develop and maintain an occupational workplace health and safety system, including policies, procedures and manuals
* Assist with and develop emergency plans and procedures
* Promote occupational workplace health and safety within the Company
* Assist with return-to-work injury practices when required
* Review, assess and develop safer methods of working
* Inspect workplaces and equipment to ensure they meet safety regulations
* Identify hazards and risks, and develop procedures to minimise or eliminate them
* Support the team in the development of JSEA's, SWP's, SWMS and CRAWS
* Present Toolbox meetings and conduct pre-start meetings when required
* Induct all new employees
Key requirements
* A minimum of 3 years in a similar role in occupational health and safety
* Hold a relevant qualification in Occupational Workplace Health and Safety minimum Cert IV
* A TAE40116 Trainer and Assessor Cert IV
* Demonstrated adherence to accident and reporting procedures
* Exceptional knowledge and practical application of workplace Occupational Workplace Health & Safety
* Incident investigation qualifications such as ICAM
* Hold a current first aid and CPR certificate
* Experience in developing CRAWS, SWP's and SWMS
* National Police Clearance (not older than 12 months).
* Ability to pass pre-employment medical and drug and alcohol screen.
