The opportunity
We are currently seeking a Financial Controller to join our dedicated Finance team based in Macquarie Park office. This is a role that focuses on leading the financial controlling function and team responsible for all ANZ legal entities at Teva Pharmaceuticals.
As the Financial Controller, you will be responsible for people management, statutory and group reporting, ensuring compliance with Sarbanes-Oxley and maintaining our control environment, managing treasury and cash flow, taxation and overseeing accounting operations.
How you’ll spend your day
In this role, your key responsibilities include:
1. Leading a team that provides accounting support to all Teva entities in ANZ
2. Proactively engage with internal stakeholders locally and globally across various Accounting & Finance divisions, Commercial and Research & Development business units, Business Solutions, Procurement, and Internal Audit
3. Ensure internal systems (SAP, Concur, Ariba) meet local business and financial reporting requirements (chart of accounts, cost centres, approval workflows), and
4. Ensure financial controls across the following key areas:
Financial and Group reporting
5. Ensure accurate and timely reporting of financial performance under both IFRS and US GAAP
6. Prepare annual consolidated financial statements for the ANZ Group and lead the annual statutory audit process
Sarbanes-Oxley and Control environment
7. Ensure accounting records are maintained in compliance with internal corporate policies and procedures as well as local statutory and taxation requirements
8. Ensure effective internal controls are in place and full adherence to Teva’s SOX and Compliance policies
9. Oversee annual internal audit
Treasury and cash flow management
10. Ensure ANZ treasury activities are in accordance with Teva Treasury guidelines, including local bank facility management and cash forecasting
11. Manage the relationship with local transactional banking service provider
12. Coordinate with the Board and Company Secretary to maintain bank account signatories for accounts
13. Administer the Teva Corporate Credit Card program
Taxation
14. Ensure all ANZ taxation compliance including Corporate income tax, payroll tax, fringe benefits tax, withholding tax in addition to ensuring compliance with R&D tax incentive requirements
15. Manage the relationship with local tax advisors and tax agent
Accounting operations
16. Oversee the effective operation and management of accounting activities for accounts payable and accounts receivable
17. Accounts payable
18. Coordinate with the procurement team to ensure local compliance with procurement policies and procedures
19. Train local colleagues to ensure an understanding of Group and Local Finance policies and procedures
20. Oversee vendor payment performance
21. Accounts receivable
22. Ensure timely collection of all accounts receivable balances and oversee payment allocation;
23. Coordinate with customer service and business planning & analysis teams to ensure all wholesaler rebates and credit requests are up to date
24. Ensure security interests are registered in the PPSR
25. Report monthly on key performance indicators
Your experience and qualifications
26. A degree in Accounting, Commerce or Business
27. Professional association membership (CAANZ or CPA Australia)
28. Experience working in a multi-national corporate environment
29. Experience in pharmaceuticals, FMCG or a product-related sector
30. Experience with SAP/Oracle
31. Experience managing an accounting team
32. Understanding of IFRS and USGAAP accounting principles
33. Good working knowledge of ANZ corporate income tax regime and sound general experience in other relevant ANZ taxes
34. Experience with Australian Research & Development tax incentive scheme and transfer pricing would be advantageous
