Oxley Vale Public School is a vibrant and inclusive learning community located on the outskirts of Tamworth, in the picturesque New England region of NSW. Our highly dedicated staff include a Deputy Principal, three Assistant Principals, two Assistant Principals (Curriculum and Instruction) and a range of support personnel including a School Counsellor, Aboriginal Community Liaison Officer and School Chaplain.
The school has a support unit with three multi-categorical support classes and an Assistant Principal (Special Education) that provides educational leadership to the unit staff and has teaching responsibility for one class.
General Selection Criteria
- Successful teaching experience with capacity to initiate improvement in teaching, learning and classroom practice
- Knowledge of curriculum, assessment and student welfare with the ability to lead and design quality, inclusive teaching and learning programs
- Educational leadership skills to build the capacity and manage the performance of individuals and teams
- Well developed communication and interpersonal skills with the capacity to build relationships and engage students, staff and parents
- Ability to plan and manage resources effectively and equitably to support teaching and learning
- Knowledge of and commitment to the Department's Aboriginal education policy
Specific Selection Criteria
- Approval to teach Special Education and / or demonstrated successful experience teaching students in a support class with complex needs related to intellectual, physical, communication and mental health (including emotional disturbance, behaviour disorder, trauma) disabilities, autism and sensory processing.
- Capacity to develop and lead consistent, high quality transition and integration programs.
- Knowledge and ability to develop consistent, dynamic, safe and visually engaging learning and play environments that are responsive to the diverse needs of all learners and promote student growth.
Conditions
An unconditional full approval to teach is a requirement. If you do not hold a full approval to teach with the NSW Department of Education, you are required to commence the application process at the same time as you apply for this teaching opportunity.
