Role Overview
The Product Category Manager is responsible for the product development with our existing and new manufacturers, growing product portfolio, product performance and managing product lifecycle of assigned consumables categories, including Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) and packaging. This role combines product management with hands‐on quality assurance responsibilities to ensure all products meet required standards, customer expectations, and regulatory compliance.
This role sits within the Product Category Management team and reports to the GM of Operations and Supply Chain.
Key Responsibilities
Category Management
* Execute category strategies to drive revenue growth, margin improvement, and market competitiveness.
* Manage the full product lifecycle, including product selection, onboarding, pricing, and discontinuation.
* Analyse market trends, customer needs, and competitor activity to identify new product opportunities.
* Collaborate with sales and marketing teams to develop campaigns and promotional plans.
* Source, evaluate, and manage supplier relationships locally and internationally.
* Negotiate pricing, terms, and supply agreements to optimise cost and service levels.
* Maintain accurate product data, specifications, and documentation.
Quality Assurance & Compliance
* Conduct regular quality checks and inspections of products across PPE and packaging categories.
* Ensure all products comply with relevant standards, certifications, and regulatory requirements.
* Investigate and resolve product quality issues, including customer complaints and supplier non‐conformance.
* Work closely with suppliers to implement corrective actions and continuous improvement initiatives.
* Develop and maintain quality control procedures and documentation.
Stakeholder Collaboration
* Partner with operations, procurement and customer service teams to ensure efficient product flow and availability.
* Support the sales team with product training, technical knowledge, and customer presentations.
* Act as the subject matter expert for assigned categories.
Reporting & Performance Tracking
* Monitor and report on category performance, including sales, margins, and stock turnover.
* Use data insights to inform decision‐making and identify areas for improvement.
Skills & Experience
* Proven experience in product/category management, preferably within consumables sectors.
* Strong commercial acumen with experience in pricing, margin management, and supplier negotiations.
* Experience in quality control, product testing, or compliance management is highly desirable.
* Analytical mindset with strong problem‐solving skills.
* Ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast‐paced environment.
Qualifications
* Bachelor's degree in Business, Supply Chain, Engineering, or a related field (preferred).
