Overview
The Central Jersey Medical Center is a Federally Qualified Health Center located in Perth Amboy, Carteret and Newark, NJ. We are currently looking to hire a full-time Registration Clerk. Hours may vary and include evenings and Saturdays. Additional hours for training and coverage may be offered.
Location is for Newark
Responsibilities
- Books, coordinates and reschedules patient appointments.
- Greets patients in a prompt, pleasant, and helpful manner.
- Maintains and updates current information on providers' schedules.
- Answers telephone, screens calls, and provides information to callers as needed.
- Contacts patients to confirm appointments.
- Assembles patients' charts and creates charts for all new patients.
- Conducts personal interviews to obtain required demographic and insurance information and enters such information into the computer.
- Obtains required signatures on legal consents and insurance forms.
- Contacts insurers to verify coverage and assures that we are the PCP, where necessary.
- Makes adjustments to the computer classification of claims to most accurately reflect the expected pay source.
- Answers inquiries of patients and the public in person or via telephone regarding regulations and services; when necessary, refers inquiries to the appropriate person or department.
- Performs exit billing and discusses patient's account balance with the responsible party.
- Responsible for daily cash collections.
- Maintains daily log of uncompensated care applications and other state and local governmental applications.
- Inputs data into the ancillary database.
- Collects and batches daily encounters.
- Other front-end duties as assigned.
Qualifications
- Demonstrated ability to adapt to changes readily.
- Ability to follow instructions, given either orally or in writing.
- Ability to work with little or no supervision.
- Demonstrates effective follow-through with all tasks.
- Maintains a high level of confidentiality.
- Ability to complete assignments in a timely manner.
- Able to work as a team player.
- Must be able to speak, read and write Spanish fluently.
TRAINING AND EXPERIENCE: Minimum of two (2) years or more experience in a medical office support setting; OR any equivalent combination of experience and training that provides the required knowledge, skills, and abilities.
