Senior Manager Cost Control $220,000 - $240,000 plus super Location Cooma, Snowy Mountains Region We are supporting a major energy infrastructure program in the Snowy Mountains region to appoint a Senior Manager Cost Control and Reporting professional to join a high performing project controls function. This is a high impact Senior Manager Cost Control role embedded in a major Snowy Mountains energy program, where precision forecasting, commercial clarity, and executive level reporting directly influence multi billion dollar delivery outcomes. You will work alongside an established Cost and Controls Lead and act as both a senior technical authority and trusted backup, strengthening governance, forecasting accuracy, and commercial visibility across the project. This is a hands on leadership role with strong exposure to executive level reporting, open book cost transparency, and major contract interfaces across E&M delivery scopes. What you will be responsible for: You will take ownership of end to end project cost control, reporting, and forecasting across a major infrastructure program, including: Leading integrated cost forecasting, cash flow management, and reporting across multiple delivery streams including offshore supply, logistics, local installation, labour, and risk exposure Driving structured forecasting cycles with budget owners and project stakeholders, ensuring alignment, challenge, and accuracy across all work packages Producing clear, concise, executive level reporting that translates complex financial and project data into meaningful insights for senior leadership and governance forums Building, improving, and automating cost control systems and reporting tools to reduce manual intervention and improve data integrity and visibility Managing and enhancing earned value reporting frameworks, including CPI, SPI, progress measurement, and performance analytics through Power BI dashboards and other visualisation tools Overseeing upstream progress claims, cost reporting, and substantiation in an open book contracting environment, ensuring accuracy and audit readiness Supporting change management processes with early identification, valuation, and financial impact assessment of variations in a collaborative delivery environment Interpreting subcontract and head contract commercial terms to ensure accurate financial treatment and reporting compliance Supporting pre tender estimating for major E&M packages in collaboration with external commercial and quantity surveying partners Leading the implementation, optimisation, and ongoing use of project controls systems, including SAP and Contruent, with a focus on training, adoption, and Identifying and managing project risks and opportunities, including cost sensitivity analysis and scenario modelling What you bring: Strong senior level experience in project controls, cost engineering, or commercial management on large scale infrastructure or energy projects Deep understanding of complex cost structures across engineering, procurement, construction, and installation environments Strong capability in financial reporting, forecasting, and executive level communication Advanced experience with Power BI and earned value management systems Hands on experience with SAP and Contruent or similar enterprise cost control platforms Strong stakeholder leadership skills with the ability to influence across technical, commercial, and executive levels Experience in open book environments with strong exposure to claims, variations, and change management Ability to bring structure, clarity, and commercial discipline to complex project environments Why this role: This is a rare opportunity to step into a senior cost leadership position on one of Australia’s most significant energy infrastructure programs.
