About the role:
We are seeking an experienced Talent Acquisition Specialist based out of our Barton Office in the ACT. The role will report directly to the Head of Talent, and candidates seeking both permanent and part-time work are encouraged to apply. You will be responsible for sourcing, engaging, and hiring top-tier talent across various skillsets—Project Management, Contract Management, Procurement, Systems Engineering, Logistics, and more. This will be a demanding and diverse role, and you must have a demonstrated background in Recruitment and/or Talent Acquisition. Due to the nature of our industry, you must be an Australian citizen eligible for an Australian Defence security clearance.

* Collaborative and thrives in a team environment.
* Comfortable with both face-to-face and video briefings.
* Outcome-focused and prepared to roll their sleeves up and help the people around them.
* Someone with recruitment and/or talent acquisition experience, either agency or internal.
* Someone who may have worked in Consulting, Professional Services, or a Defence Prime — highly desirable.
* Someone who possesses a professional phone manner with great rapport-building skills.
* Someone not afraid to make mistakes and learn from them.
* Highly competent in MS Office, Outlook, and preferably SharePoint.
* Someone with a good sense of humour (non-negotiable).
Key responsibilities of this role are:
* Own the full-cycle recruitment process from sourcing to onboarding.
* Responsible for data integrity of our Applicant Tracking System.
* Developing and maintaining a strong candidate network, as we work in a candidate-short market.
* Posting adverts, shortlisting candidates, and managing the talent acquisition inbox.
* Conduct telephone screens of shortlisted and preferred candidates.
* Schedule internal and external interviews and ensure meeting rooms are booked.
* Facilitate reference checking and CV/background checks through our external vendor.
* Work with candidates on preparing CVs for submission to our projects.
* Provide excellent candidate service and candidate management — put yourself in the candidate's shoes!
* Assist with the onboarding process and security requirements for candidates.
* Provide general support across the People & Culture team as required.
* Other ad-hoc duties as requested by senior management.
