We currently have a vacancy for a Chaplain in the Bunbury South-West Region to provide additional support in our Fields aged care home and Dallyelup Housing Community for 10 hours per week (working 2 x 5 hours) on a permanent part-time basis, and additional Chaplaincy relief support as required.
The Chaplain is responsible for understanding the individual Pastoral Care and Spiritual Care needs of customers at Bethanie Fields and Dallyelup Housing, and endeavour to meet these needs by contributing toward a multi-disciplinary team approach. Pastoral Care can also be provided to next of kin and employees where appropriate with an emphasis on redirecting individuals towards relevant professional support services to nurture the wellbeing of valued next-of-kin members and employees. Meeting the spiritual and pastoral care needs of our residents is a core focus of this role.
About you
* Experience with seniors, dementia, palliative and pastoral care
* Ability to work as part of a team
* Good documentation skills, with the ability to correctly document and record
* Demonstrated administrative abilities, time management skills and a desire for learning
* Theological training qualification
* Pastoral care or chaplaincy training qualification
* Letter of recommendation from recognised Church denomination
* A Class Drivers Licence
* Willing to obtain NDIS Worker's Screening Check
* Willing to obtain relevant vaccinations (1 covid vaccination and annual flu vaccination)
* Willingness to uphold the Mission, Vision and Values of the Bethanie Group Inc
About the role
* Complete and maintain Spiritual Care Assessments for every customer
* Provide individualised Pastoral Care to customers according to their needs
* Ensure all communication is up to date where possible e.g emails, referrals, assessments and reports.
* Assist to ensure individualised Spiritual Care needs are provided from a multi-disciplinary approach to foster a healthy sense of meaning, purpose and belonging
* Coordinate and provide spiritual group activities (weekly church service, dementia specific services, Anzac Day, Remembrance Day, Easter and Christmas services)
* Provide grief support for customers and next of kin according to their preferences when required
* Provide palliative care and end of life pastoral care support to residents and family members
* Assist with supporting pastoral care volunteers onsite
* Attend multi-disciplinary meetings when appropriate as a way of collaboration and sharing appropriate information to support the spiritual needs of customers (Care Team Meetings, Therapy Team Meetings, Site Resident meetings etc).
* Attend regular chaplaincy team meetings and training provided
* Engage with regular professional supervision
* Liaise with leaders of other denominations, religious communities and cultural groups when required to ensure customers can receive the spiritual support they require.
* Liaise with local COCWA Churches where possible, to nurture partnerships between Bethanie and COCWA community initiatives that enhance the spiritual needs of customers.
