The Salvation Army is one of Australia’s largest providers of alcohol and other drug (AOD) rehabilitation and recovery services. At the Sunrise Centre, we walk alongside people seeking stability, healing and change, offering evidence-based treatment, structured programs and compassionate support. As a Psychologist, you will play a key role in supporting residents to understand their experiences, build insight, and develop strategies that promote long-term recovery.

Your clinical expertise will help shape safe, person-centred care for people navigating substance use, trauma, mental health challenges and complex life circumstances. About the role You will deliver specialist psychological assessment, formulation and treatment for residents participating in the Sunrise Centre AOD Rehabilitation Program.

Working within a multidisciplinary team, you will provide structured interventions, clinical guidance and therapeutic support that aligns with best practice and TSA values. This is a permanent full-time role working 8:00am – 4:00pm (38 hours per week), Monday to Friday, based in Darwin and reporting to the Sunrise Program Manager. Pay above award conditions and is negotiable based on experience.

We welcome applications from provisional psychologists completing their supervised practice pathway, fully registered psychologists, and mental health clinicians with relevant qualifications and AOD experience. How you will make an impact Provide evidence-based psychological assessment, diagnosis, formulation and treatment in line with the Salvation Army Model of Care Deliver clinical services to an allocated caseload within a residential AOD setting including group education sessions. Use psychometrically sound screening and assessment tools to inform interventions Exercise independent clinical judgement in adapting therapeutic approaches

Work collaboratively with the multidisciplinary team to support resident wellbeing Provide support and guidance to staff Maintain accurate, timely clinical documentation in line with TSA standards Contribute to a safe, ethical and recovery-focused environment Conduct secondary consults with staff including assessments Conducting individual sessions with AOD participants at their initial stage and throughout their program. What you will bring Degree in Psychology or Mental Health (AOD experience preferred) Provisional or full registration with AHPRA, or eligibility to register Knowledge of AOD, mental health, community services and/or residential treatment settings Strong clinical assessment, formulation and intervention skills Ability to work collaboratively, communicate effectively and uphold professional boundaries Current First Aid (or willingness to obtain) NT Driver’s Licence
