Location: Tasmania, Australia

This is a permanent full‑time day worker position, 38 hours per fortnight, commencing as soon as possible (hours to be negotiated).


About the Tasmanian State Service

The Tasmanian State Service (TSS) is the largest employer in Tasmania, with over 28,000 employees providing services across the community. The Occupational Therapy Service includes over 90 team members (occupational therapists, assistants, play specialists, diversional therapists, carpenter, and administration officers) working across acute, sub‑acute, and community settings, including the Royal Hobart Hospital.


The Role

As Deputy Manager – Occupational Therapy (Acute), you will lead and develop the Acute Team across Medical, Cancer, Surgical, Women's and Children's Services. Your responsibilities include:

* Managing and developing staff across the Occupational Therapy Acute Team (over 30 staff).
* Delivering high‑quality, evidence‑based services in partnership with multidisciplinary leads.
* Representing occupational therapy in the wider health care setting and deputising for the Head of Department when required.
* Aligning service delivery with the Department's CARE values (Compassion, Accountability, Respect, and Excellence).


You will need

* Extensive experience as an Occupational Therapist, preferably in Acute Services.
* Proven ability to lead, engage others, and drive change.
* A passion for staff well‑being and development.


Salary

$135,002 – $138,296 per annum pro rata, plus a 12% superannuation contribution. Salary range is in accordance with the Allied Health Professionals Public Sector Unions Wages Agreement No. 2 of 2022.

Salary packaging includes living expenses up to $9,010 + $2,650 in meal entertainment each FBT year, plus other eligible benefits.

Eligibility

Essential criteria:

* Tertiary qualification/program of study approved by the Occupational Therapy Board of Australia.
* Registered with the Occupational Therapy Board of Australia.

Desirable criteria:

* Post‑graduate studies in occupational therapy, public health, health services leadership or management, or a related area.
