Job Overview & Purpose
Responsible for the design, development, implementation and verification of Manufacturing Test Systems for Cochlear sound processors, implants and remote assistants.
Collaborate the design activity effectively across all required disciplines to achieve business success.
Accountabilities
Accountability 1 : Test Systems Design and Development
- Design of new manufacturing test systems considering, and balancing stakeholder needs and ensuring test systems are fit for purpose
- Solid focus on mechanical/ mechatronics design of test systems
- Support design of system with software development
- Coordinate the development, verification, and implementation of production test systems
- Collaborate and communicate with external stakeholders to ensure the formation of appropriate, efficient, and verifiable product test requirements
- Provide expert design for test feedback to the appropriate design teams, such as firmware, electrical and mechanical
- Development of prototype designs
- Follows Electrical Test System Design and Verification procedure
- Implementation of efficient test methodologies
- Understands product schematics, layouts, mechanical drawings, and firmware
Accountability 2 : Test Systems Verification & Validation
- Ensure safety and efficacy of Test Systems through rigorous testing
- Understands V&V; requirements and protocols for delivering Test Systems to the manufacturing department
- Responsible for Test System verification and validation activities
Accountability 3: Technical Documentation
- Review and translate Product Test Requirements into Test System Requirements in collaboration with R&D; Electrical and/or Firmware and/or Systems engineers
- Coordinate, prepare and lead Change Requests and Change Notes for necessary test system design or process changes
- Initiate and track test system issues in Jira and closing out assigned issues in timely manner
- Responsible for on-time documentation reviews and approvals
Accountability 4: Deliver Safe, High Quality & Reliable Test Systems
- Follow relevant quality procedures to deliver quality products and services and identify and support the implementation of continuous improvement.
- Undertake additional quality responsibilities (e.g. audit) when appropriately trained to undertake these responsibilities.
- Work safely, complying with all safety procedures, rules and instructions, and reporting workplace hazards, incidents or injuries to manager.

- Follow relevant quality procedures to deliver quality products and services and identify and support the implementation of continuous improvement. Undertake additional quality responsibilities (e.g., audit) when appropriately trained to undertake these responsibilities.

Minimum Key Incumbent Requirements
Required Skills
- Strong fundamental engineering knowledge of electrical circuit design, electrical measurement instrumentation, software design (python, C#)
- Fundamental knowledge of mechanical or mechatronics design (CAD)
- Familiar with engineering test experimentation and verification process
- Strong Problem solver with a strong eye for detail
- Capable communicator (verbal and written) and has the ability to write concise technical documentation
Desired Skills
- Experience in highly regulated industry (e.g Medical, Aerospace, Military)
- Experience with test software (NI LabView, Python)
- Experience with tests system design for manufacturing (Circuit design, PCB layout, uP programming)
- Strong knowledge of analogue, digital and/or acoustic hardware design
Education
- Bachelor's degree in electrical or electronic Engineering
- Bachelor's degree in Mechatronics Engineering
- Desired: Master's degree in electrical/electronic Engineering
- Desired: PhD in electrical/electronic Engineering
