We’re seeking a Batch Manager / Software Engineer (Developer) to support and enhance enterprise batch processing and software delivery for a large, security-conscious environment. You’ll work across analysis, development, configuration and release activities, and provide technical support to delivery teams to keep critical bulk processing reliable and on time.
Security requirement (mandatory): You must hold an active Baseline clearance OR be eligible and willing to obtain Baseline clearance (Australian Citizen required).
Key Reasonability
* Maintain and support batch schedules and supporting scripts to ensure core overnight/bulk processing runs reliably and within required timeframes (including on-call support for overnight batch runs).
* Undertake analysis, design, development, prototyping, testing, deployment and maintenance activities.
* Provide technical input to delivery teams to develop and implement ICT solutions.
* Analyse technical requirements and contribute to solution options and evaluation.
* Define and document software/technical designs for complex solutions, conversions and migrations.
* Support go-live and post-release maintenance; identify/escalate issues and propose alternatives.
* Ensure alignment to approved SDLC methodologies, standards, and quality practices.
* Produce technical documentation and progress reporting; collaborate with stakeholders to deliver outcomes.
* Application support experience (SFIA aligned): following agreed procedures to diagnose and resolve application issues; using monitoring/performance tools; performing maintenance tasks.
Skills And Experience

* Strong capability in programming/software development: coding, refactoring, scripting, integration services, peer review leadership.
* Release & deployment: release scheduling inputs, deployment/configuration tooling, maintaining release processes.
* Software configuration: complex configuration design/refactoring and configuration management discipline.
* Software design and systems design: modelling, trade-off analysis, interface specification, producing detailed design specs.
* Systems integration & build: integration planning, environment configuration, integration testing, process/tool improvements.
* Testing: designing test cases/scripts, manual + automated testing, reporting on risks/issues/outcomes.
* Comfortable working with competing priorities under limited direction; strong documentation and stakeholder communication skills.
* Long-term contract: initial term up to 12 months, with potential extensions up to 24 months.
* Hybrid working after initial onboarding period (expect full-time onsite for the first 6 weeks, then typically 3 days/week onsite).
* Work on business-critical batch processing and enterprise delivery outcomes in a structured environment.
* Collaborative team with strong engineering standards and governance.
