This role is full time, salary from $103,517 + 12% superannuation

Melbourne Zoo is seeking a dedicated and experienced Site Operations and Compliance Manager to lead the development and delivery of safe, compliant and effective operational practices across the site.
Reporting to the
Senior Manager Sustainability & Environment
, this role plays a critical part in ensuring Melbourne Zoo operates in alignment with Australian Standards, OH&S legislation, and emergency management protocols. The position supports staff across the zoo in understanding and applying operational procedures that foster a culture of safety, care and continuous improvement.
Key Responsibilities
Site compliance and emergency response coordination
Emergency management planning, training and drills
Management of First Aid Officers and Cleaning Team
Chairing the OH&S Committee and managing the Operational Risk Register
Safety system reporting and incident trend analysis
Staff training in emergency awareness, first aid, and safety procedures
Stakeholder engagement to support best practice and innovation
Member of the Melbourne Zoo Senior Leadership Team
Qualifications & Experience
Proven experience in operational leadership within complex environments
Strong understanding of OH&S, emergency management and risk mitigation
Experience managing casual and cross-functional teams
Ability to lead training programmes and foster a safety-first culture
Excellent communication and stakeholder engagement skills
Familiarity with compliance systems, reporting tools and risk registers
Diploma or Degree in Occupational Health & Safety, Emergency Management, Facilities Management, or a related field
