About the Roles
Our client is seeking DC Team Lead – Inwards and DC Team Lead – Dispatch to lead daily operations at our clients new Ravenhall distribution centre.
Inwards Team Lead: 6:00am–2:00pm, 6 staff
Dispatch Team Lead: 12:00pm–8:00pm, 12 staff
These newly created roles are critical to the success of this greenfield operation, and the first six months will be highly hands-on, with a focus on warehouse setup, staff onboarding, training, and embedding ways of working.
Purpose
Ensure smooth execution of all DC operations, including stock movement, picking, packing, and delivery.
Resource planning and workforce management.
Staff leadership, training, and development.
Administrative support and data management in line with company policy.
Contribute to continuous improvement and DC management initiatives.
Key Responsibilities
Team Leadership
Provide leadership and direction to team members to ensure efficient warehouse operations.
Monitor team performance and provide feedback through performance appraisals.
Train and retrain team members in agreed processes.
Manage permanent and temporary labour resources effectively.
Foster a positive and proactive work culture.
Drive self-learning and improvement in Supply Chain Management.
Distribution Centre Operations
Plan and execute efficient stock movement, storage, picking, packing, and delivery.
Develop and implement storage and distribution plans to optimise resources and budget.
Monitor and control operational plans to minimise risk of damage or spoilage.
Liaise with third-party service providers to maximise efficiency.
Oversee accurate receipting, putaway, labelling, and stock management.
Implement cost efficiency initiatives and continuous improvement measures.
Leadership Team Contribution
Contribute to a positive DC culture and proactive problem-solving.
Support the DC Operations Manager and senior staff across day-to-day operations.
Actively participate in team leader and management meetings.
Health & Safety
Lead by example in health and safety practices.
Conduct toolbox meetings and ensure team compliance with policies.
Report incidents and hazards accurately via company systems.
Implement new controls following incident investigations.
Skills & Knowledge
In-depth understanding and experience of warehousing and logistics.
Strong customer service focus and commitment to operational excellence.
Ability to build relationships and balance the needs of multiple stakeholders.
Attention to detail and accuracy in all tasks.
Ability to work under pressure while maintaining high standards.
Experience & Qualifications
Essential:
Experience in logistics, warehousing, or related field.
Experience in staff leadership and warehouse operations.
Strong relationship management across all levels of an organisation.
Desirable:
Experience leading and developing effective teams.
2+ years relevant experience in a warehouse environment.
SAP WMS experience is a strong requirement.
