Primary objective
Ensure that Northern Territory Police Force (NTPF) infrastructure and facilities are maintained and secure in alignment with
operational requirements, OH&S and quality standards, including developing and managing relevant contracts and undertaking
performance based contract management.
Key duties and responsibilities
1. Coordinate and oversee the timely completion of Urgent Minor Repairs (UMR) and Repairs and Maintenance works at Police
Facilities throughout the Northern Territory.
1. Maintain the security of NTPF and NTFES buildings by managing the production and provision of security access and photo ID
cards to authorised persons.
1. Deliver clear, accurate and timely advice to the Director Infrastructure or the Assistant Director Facilities regarding significant
incidents or issues related to building maintenance, safety, or security, including regular updates on the progress of rectification
works.
1. Manage contracts and provide direction to service providers to ensure the timely and effective delivery of professional cleaning
and grounds maintenance services to NTPF facilities in the Greater Darwin Area.
1. Engage as both a team member and a team leader within the Facilities Management Section, undertaking responsibilities as
required to deliver effective services and achieve successful outcomes that support the NTPF's strategic and operational
objectives.
1. Oversight and supervision of the NTPF gardeners and the Peter McAulay Centre Courier Service including mail and freight
services.
1. Participate in a 24/7 on-call roster for after-hours or emergency situations and disaster planning and recovery.
Selection criteria
Essential
1. Demonstrated experience in leading and managing a team to deliver high-quality outcomes within required timeframes.
2. Proven experience in a similar property or facilities management role, including effective liaison with other NTG agencies and
third-party contractors, underpinned by a strong understanding of government processes and stakeholder engagement.
3. Demonstrated commitment to excellent customer service, with highly developed interpersonal and communication skills (both
oral and written). Ability to communicate effectively and tactfully at all levels, manage stakeholder expectations, and maintain
professional and respectful relationships.
1. Proven ability to be well organised and work independently with minimal supervision to effectively manage fluctuating
workloads and achieve results within agreed timeframes, and maintain flexibility in adapting to changing environments and
priorities. Demonstrated problem-solving skills to implement solutions and achieve business outcomes.
1. A working knowledge of procurement processes and contract management, including experience in contemporary
performance-based contract management to support effective service delivery.
1. Willingness and ability to participate in a 24/7 on-call roster, including attending various locations throughout the Greater
Darwin Region for after-hours or emergency situations and the capacity to work extended hours as required for disaster
planning, preparation, and recovery duties.
Desirable
1. Working knowledge of the Financial Management Act, Procurement Act and the Public Sector Employment and Management Act
and their subordinate legislation or the ability to quickly acquire and apply this knowledge.
2. Experience in records management and the use of Territory Records Manager (TRM).
