Program Supervisor & Mentor – GroundWork Café

About the Role
Are you an experienced barista or hospitality professional looking for more meaning in your work? At RedDoor, we're seeking a Program Mentor at GroundWork Café to lead our small group youth training program at GroundWork Café Mount Isa — a café that doubles as a skills-building space for young trainees.
This hands-on role blends café coordination, mentoring, and program supervision. You'll lead by example, using your hospitality expertise to train and inspire young people while helping them overcome barriers and build confidence in the workplace.
Key responsibilities
* Lead & mentor trainees: Coach practical hospitality, barista, customer service skills; provide 1:1 guidance; build workplace confidence.
* A current Working with Children Check is required before commencement.
* Oversee program delivery: Ensure trainees complete structured workbooks, meet milestones, and progress through training.
* Run café operations: Prepare espresso-based and specialty beverages; make simple cabinet foods; manage stock; maintain smooth daily service.
* Create a supportive environment: Foster a safe, inclusive, encouraging learning space.
* Provide wrap-around support:
* Pick up new employees/trainees from home when needed
* Help establish positive routines and work-ready habits
* Address barriers outside work (transport, personal organisation, confidence)
* Engage with other support service organisations to refer trainees with broader help as needed
* Report on outcomes: Track trainee progress, record customer engagement, and contribute to program success reporting.
* Collaborate for improvement: Work with RedDoor management to continuously strengthen delivery and support.
Must-have skills & experience
* Café and barista experience.
* Minimum 1-2 years of café and barista experience is required.
* Confident preparing high-quality espresso and specialty beverages.
* Capable of managing daily café operations, stock levels, and service standards.
* Experience in training and guiding others in hospitality best practice.
* Australian work rights are required for this position.

Hours
* 7:00am – 3:00pm, Monday to Friday (negotiable)
* Café opening hours: 7:30am – 1:00pm
