**The Opportunity**
This is a new opportunity to join a fun, hardworking and busy media team. You will work with media professionals to create engaging, relevant and at times complex media releases and communications materials.
This is a great opportunity to join a large, key Government department. You will have the opportunity to gain exposure in the wider communications branch and future moves into a broader communications role will be encouraged and supported, if desired.
**Key duties will include**:
- Field incoming media enquiries and work with key staff to develop appropriate responses, including arranging media interviews.
- Prepare media alerts and media releases as required.
- Provide material to the media as required, including photographs, film and background information.
- Manage visiting media onsite, including documentary crews.
- With support from the Media Relations Manager, coordinate PR-supported events and partnerships.
- Monitor and report on media coverage.

**Skills and Experience required**:
Previous experience in a media position, in either the Government or private sector is essential.
A degree or diploma, or post graduate diploma from an Australian tertiary institution or a comparable overseas qualification, with a major in journalism, public relations or communications is desirable.
To be considered for this opportunity you must be a current Australian Citizen with the ability to obtain a security clearance, if not already held.
