The Construction, Infrastructure and Projects (CI&P) group undertakes work relating to all aspects of construction, infrastructure and projects for both private and public sector clients, supporting clients through the entire project lifecycle to manage risk and deliver great outcomes.
About The Role
This role will support Partner Jonathan Usher, an experienced Special Counsel and other members of the team. Jonathan specialises in infrastructure and construction projects, property development and structured finance arrangements and requires an experienced, proactive and detail‐oriented legal assistant who can work independently, respect strict confidentiality and exercise sound judgment.
This role will suit career legal assistants and our ideal candidate will have experience in construction law matters and terminology.
Day to day key responsibilities:
* Drafting routine correspondence and documentation including the use of precedents, style guides, firm standards and formatting
* Preparing contracts with multiple annexures
* Managing emails, diaries and voicemail for the team
* Managing the billing process and preparing draft invoices
* Scheduling meetings on Microsoft Teams
* Collating briefs to Counsel, Affidavits and Exhibits
* Court document filing
* Assisting with client account management including managing fee estimates and handling billing queries from clients
* Coordinating and managing monthly reports
* Assisting with processing of expenses claims
* Copying, typing (including dictation occasionally), formatting and general word processing
* Opening and closing files (including archiving)
* ASIC and PPSR searches
* Production of presentations and assisting in the organisation of seminars and events
About You
You will have prior experience providing senior level support as a legal assistant or within a legal support role. It's critical that you are a self‐starter, with excellent professional communication (written and verbal), exceptional organisational skills and a willingness to learn new skills.
Qualifications
* Experience in billing and managing high‐volume court documentation
* A keen eye for detail
* Fast and accurate typing and formatting skills
* Proficiency with Microsoft Office and advanced Word skills
* Enjoy working in a team‐based environment and contributing to positive team morale and engagement
* A can‐do attitude and a sense of humour
* Strong initiative with a genuine commitment to excellent client service
Knowledge of Work10 and Aderant will be highly regarded but not essential; training will be provided.
