Interim General Manager & Business Sale Consultant – Gold Coast Furniture Removals (Complete by June 2026)
A well-known Gold Coast furniture removals business needs someone exceptional who can do two critical jobs at once: keep the business running strong AND find the right buyer - fast.
The Situation:The owner's health challenges mean this established, household name business with ~20 staff needs new ownership by 30 June 2026. You'll report to an external advisor appointed by the family. The advisor has prepared all financial information and will handle final negotiations and contract execution but cannot personally manage operations or drive the buyer search. You are the on-ground presence making it all happen.
This Isn't Your Typical Role:You'll be doing two jobs simultaneously - and both are critical. Three days a week on-site in Molendinar, you'll manage the day-to-day operations of a furniture removals business while ALSO driving the buyer search process. The business needs to perform well to sell well - you're responsible for both.
Your Dual Mission:
Business Sale:• Hunt for buyers - work your networks, call removalists, engage brokers• Qualify serious prospects and coordinate due diligence• Manage the sales pipeline and report weekly to external advisor• Present qualified opportunities to advisor who handles final negotiations
Day-to-day Management:• Run the business day-to-day - you're the most senior person on site• Keep ~20 staff motivated and performing during uncertain times• Improve financial performance - every dollar matters for the sale• Make sure service quality stays high and customers stay happy
You're the Right Fit If You Have:• Actually run a business or significant operations before• Real experience selling businesses or commercial assets• The confidence to walk into a business cold and earn the team's trust quickly• Commercial savvy - you read a P&L, understand margins, spot issues• Sales tenacity - comfortable picking up the phone daily and creating opportunities• The ability to juggle priorities without dropping balls• Gold Coast based - you need to be on-site in Molendinar 3 days/week• Your own ABN and business insurance
Bonus Points:• Previous experience keeping a business steady during M&A or transitions
The Hard Truths:• Deadline is non-negotiable: 30 June 2026 (earlier is better)• No vendor finance - buyers need their own funding
What You'll Earn:• Monthly retainer• Success fee (% of target sale price) paid at settlement• Bonus incentive for exceeding target price
Time Commitment:3 days per week on-site in Molendinar (days flexible). Immediate start through June 2026 (or earlier if we find the right buyer faster).
