Westgate Labs is a NATA accredited Australian leader in the Horticulture, environmental and food safety industries for analytical laboratory services in the areas of soil, water, pathology/microbiology, residue and environmental testing along with Research and Development of chemicals.
Reporting to key personnel, you will provide on-site analytical testing and preparation within our Laboratory. You will ensure the safe and efficient running of our laboratory operation and perform a range of analytical tests.
RESPONSIBILITIES
As an analytical chemist you will be required to:
* Perform sample preparation and testing procedures under the guidance of our Laboratory Manager.
* Conducting weekly patulin testing in apple and pear juices and purées
* Operate, calibrate, and conduct routine maintenance of analytical instruments with a high degree of precision.
* Maintain calibration records, analytical results, test reports, and maintenance records for NATA and OECD GLP compliance.
* Safely operate plant sampling stations within the Laboratory.
SKILLS AND QUALIFICATIONS
As the successful candidates, you will have:
* A relevant tertiary qualification (BSc in Chemistry or related discipline), or significant experience in an ISO 17025 and OECD-GLP accredited laboratory, including veterinary laboratory environments
* Experience in veterinary, food, environmental or agricultural testing laboratories will be highly regarded
* Strong computer literacy and confidence using laboratory and data management systems
* The ability to develop and maintain analytical reports, SOPs and test methods
* Demonstrated experience with the following instrumentation:
* LC/MS and GC/MS
* UHPLC
* ICP-OES and Spectrophotometer's
* Auto titrators
* LC
