The role reports to the Merchandise Manager (Books) and focuses on buying for the children's category across the Dymocks retail network.ResponsibilitiesManaging all aspects of buying and promotion for all children's categories at a national level with a view to improving sales and profitability.Utilising knowledge of the book market to maximise margins and add value to Franchise Owners and Company stores.Maintaining relationships with external stakeholders and forming new partnerships with suitable suppliers.Supporting and liaising with Franchise Owners and stores on buying and stock management.Negotiating offers, promotions, margins and terms with partners and suppliers to maintain Dymocks Retail's market position.Contributing to the creation and implementation of a children's book strategy in response to current market challenges.Collaborating with internal Merchandise, Marketing and Digital teams to create a promotions calendar (e.g., Books of the Month, Dymocks Kids Top 51).
Conducting sales and market share analysis for current and recent promotions.Reviewing buying processes to ensure maximum efficiencies.Skills and Experiences3+ years of buying experience managing product categories at a national level within retail or wholesale environments.Previous experience in the book industry (retail or publishing).
A genuine passion for books and related markets.Demonstrated experience driving results and achieving financial targets.Strong written and verbal communication skills.Ability to multitask, meet tight deadlines and maintain attention to detail.Advanced skills with Microsoft Office, particularly Excel.Application ProcessWhen applying, please include a cover letter outlining your interest in working with Dymocks and your relevant buying experience.
